I have a new Acer widescreen 21.5 inch 1080p hd monitor I would like to hook my xbox 360 up to. The monitor has VGA, DVI, and HDMI slots. I searched google but am still confused about which adapter to buy. Thanks.LCD Monitor
I think I narrowed it down to either the http://www.xbox.com/en-US/hardware/x/xbox360hdmiavcable/ (HDMI cable) or the http://www.xbox.com/en-US/hardware/x/xbox360vgahdcable/ (VGA cable). Which one is it?LCD Monitor
I use VGA since my monitor doesn't have HDMI inputs. I'd go with HDMI because it sounds cooler. It's up to you! :)
How is audio handled for each cable?
I use HDMI with my xbox for my LCD monitor. And I have had no problem with sound or video quality. So I would go with HDMI, but I have never tired the VGA.
http://news.cnet.com/i/bto/20070809/360_hdmi_540x405.jpg Take a look at this. My older xbox 360 does not has the bottom HDMI port, is that a problem. I do, however, have that port above the Ethernet cable.
Ok, I think I have reached a conclusion. The port above the Eternet is only USB. So, my older xbox 360 does not even have an HDMI port. I will have to buy the VGA cable adapter with component cables. Thanks for the replies.
The VGA cable is what you need.
It has a VGA plug for the video, and two RCA jacks for the audio (red/white for left/right audio). The official cable also comes with an adaptor to convert the two audio plugs into a single 3.5mm stereo jack which is the common plug for PC speakers, and probably your monitor.
I have a similar set up, go for HDMI connection. You are going to have to run the sound through external speakers (was a bit of a headache for me at first, but got there in the end)The sound now goes through some very nice sound-sticks, maybe PC speakers with a woofer will do a superb job for you.
