z-5500

I currently use the x-540 and to me they sound great for the 360. Would it be worth upgrading to the Z series? Any big difference between these 2 speakers?z-5500
Sorry to sound dumb, but are both of these5.1 systems?z-5500
i think this is in the wrong forum board. you'll probably get a better answer in the hardware board.
the z-5500 is so expensive partly cuz it sounds so amazingly awesome but also it works as a standalone receiver for 5.1 you plug your optical cable directly into it, bypassing the need for a fancy expensive receiver.

i was looking into it with the same dilemma. i have the same speaker system that you do. it's a great system. got it for $40. i could either sell it and pay $250 for the z-5500 or buy a receiver.. both were expensive.

I ended up buying a Creative Extigy external soundcard off ebay for $40. The amazing thing about this sound card is that it works as a standalone receiver with optical input and output into the Front/Back/Center-Sub jacks. And the sound quality will be on par with most expensive receivers

look into it. my xbox is hooked up to my 540 speakers now with the extigy and it sounds amazing!
i have the Z-5500 and they are the best surround system i have owned, i have it hooked to my 360 throu an optical cord and you hear things in music you wouldnt even hear with headphones.

Thanks for the info, I'll definitely look into it. Could end up saving me $200+.

Forgot to ask, what exactly do you have? I'm not to familiar with these receiver stuff since this would be my first time owning one lol.
